I love Penang, for many reasons. Yes, food is one of them. And more so for their beautiful cafes and lifestyle shops. I am always deeply inspired by people who take a very passionate role in life and pouring their souls into something that inspires them. Here in Penang, I take my time to slow down and take a stroll around the streets to slowly discover its beauty. Sometimes, I am so happy that we were lost along the way, because that is exactly the fun of travelling, right?
So while we were trying to find some cafe in our list, we passed by 41 Living Story and was attracted by it. Situated along quiet Love Lane, 41 Living Story is a charming bric-a-brac shop in a refurbished shop house that used to be a goldsmith business. As you enter the shop, you will be many interesting souvenirs such as posters, cards, toys and dainty knick knacks that will charm you.
As we explored further in, we were greeted by the various goldsmith’s antique equipment that are preserved and exhibited in the courtyard area, along with its history written on panels hung on the walls. Apparently, the equipments here belonged to a goldsmith from China who lived in Penang during the 1950s.
As we climb up the steps, I felt like I was brought back to my childhood where we still listen to cassette tapes. The very kind sales girl allowed us to take a look upstairs even though there was no one to take care of the stuffs.
Every month, they have exhibition going on to promote the art in Penang. On the second floor which looks like a cottage, some photos were displayed on the wall. As I entered to a living room look alike room, there are many vintage souvenirs such as bags, candies, clothes etc up on sale. Very pretty, isn’t it?
