Alkaff Mansion Ristorante – Exquisite Dining in Historical Charm
July 24, 2013
Originally built in 1918 and left empty since 2003, Alkaff Mansion has been painstakingly conserved and restored to its glory of yesteryear. Characterised by its colonial architecture, European-styled fountains and a romantic gazebo, Alkaff Mansion Ristorante is now a fine dining Italian restaurant which also features a terrace area and a stylish bar. The nuffnang girls and I had our lunch here a few days ago.
Alkaff Mansion Ristorante serves authentic Tuscan Italian cusine to both lunch and dinner crowd alike. Their 2 storey mansion provides a stylish yet comfortable experience.
From the ala carte menu, the traditional Lobster Bisque ($24) with Tarragon scent and orange was rich and delish, and you can find some traces of lobster meat.
The linguine ($36) comes loaded with thick chunks of spanner crab & grated grey mullet roe “Bottarga”. It releases well-balanced sweet and sour taste sensations and has become one of the restaurant’s bestseller.
Alkaff Mansion also offers 3 course set lunch at $36++ each. Soup of the day was cauliflower soup.
The waitress recommended us to try their Slow Cooked Chicken Leg and we enjoyed it thoroughly. They are slow-cooked rotisserie style, so you get a chicken that is tender and juicy. It is served with oven baked rosemary potatoes and mustard sauce.
Although I rarely like risotto, I enjoyed the version here – ‘Porcini’ mushrooms risotto superfino ‘Acquerello’ with Thyme. It had good bite and the truffle oil gave it a subtle scent of mushrooms.
A very nicely plated Mixed fruits with “Marsala” Sabayon in a crispy coconut & Sesame basket. The coconut basket was slightly too hard for my liking. But the sabayon is definitely creamy and not too sweet.
Here’s a photo of me with the nuffies! 🙂
The restaurant is located in the lush greenery of Telok Blangah Hill park. You can request to enjoy alfresco dining during dinner and weekends.
