Bangkok Delights
Phat Thai Bai Tong (ผัดไทใบตอง)
From the aromatic spices of Tom Yum to the delicate flavors of Pad Thai, every dish tells a story of tradition, innovation, and the Thai way of life. During my last trip to Thailand, my driver recommended a hidden Phad Thai eatery – Phat Thai Bai Tong (ผัดไทใบตอง). Locals and Thai celebrities love this hidden gem for its Phad Thai despite its small size. The eatery is always bustling, thanks to its charcoal-fired cooking and handmade ingredients. The star of the show is, of course, the Pad Thai, which comes with large river prawns, rice noodles, and bean sprouts. The homemade pork lard scattered all over was crispy and flavorful, and the noodles were chewy and moist.

Wattana Panich Beef Noodles (วัฒนาพานิช เนื้อตุ๋น)
Another stall that has consistently attracted long queues is Wattana Panich Beef Noodles (วัฒนาพานิช เนื้อตุ๋น). This legendary establishment has stood the test of time (since 1970) for good reason. Their secret lies in the use of a massive cauldron in which their beef stew is boiled over an open fire. Their signature beef noodles always hit the spot. Opting for thin noodles with soup, we were greeted by a tantalizing bowl assembled with tender beef slices and a couple of meticulously handcrafted beef balls. The broth, slightly oily yet oh-so-satisfying, exuded an appetizing meaty flavor that warmed our senses.

Ning’s Mango Stand
Your Thai food exploration won’t be complete without the iconic and refreshing Mango Sticky Rice. My favorite mango sticky rice stall that I always visit whenever I am in Bangkok is none other than Ning’s Mango Stand. Sweet and juicy mangoes with glutinous rice, mung beans, and fresh coconut cream – what’s not to love?

Daydream Believer Cafe
But don’t limit yourself to the classics. The cafe scene in Bangkok is equally exciting. For those eager to capture picturesque #OOTD moments, make your way to the Daydream Believer Cafe. Nestled behind grand gates, this enchanting glasshouse boasts wooden furnishings and a lush garden, providing an oasis of tranquility perfect for unwinding. I relish precious moments of “me-time” here, leisurely enjoying a good book and a comforting cup of coffee. Amidst a menu featuring contemporary Thai dishes, my heart particularly gravitates towards their exquisite desserts – the zesty Lemon Meringue Tart and the irresistible Waffles paired with velvety Ice Cream steal the show.
