9 Cafes to Fix Your 12am Dessert Cravings at!
March 17, 2022
While there are many ice cream and gelato cafes in Singapore, not many open till late.
Here are 9 Cafes where you can satiate that sweet tooth of yours late into the night!
Lola Faye Cafe
Located in the hip Jalan Besar area, Lola Faye is a Halal-certified cafe. They serve more elevated desserts, including Charcoal Blackout Waffle ($7) and Gelato Croissant ($9.80). I did quite enjoy their more unique ice cream flavours like Ondeh Ondeh, and the waffles, which were crispy on the outside, yet still fluffy on the inside, were one to remember. If you’re looking for something savoury, they also serve Egg Mayo ($5.90) and Chicken Mayo ($6.90) Croissants, and have some wraps on offer.

Obok Dabang
A Korean-inspired cafe located on the premises of SMU, Obok Dabang serves a wide selection of bakes, before serving Fried Chicken and Ramen from 5pm onwards. We loved their Black Sesame Croffin ($4.50), and their Garlic Nest Baguette ($6) which is also a crowd favourite.

Hay Gelato
By the folks behind Brine Singapore, Hay gelato was born after some R&D, having already been featured on Brine’s dessert menu. Their brick and mortar shop is located under a HDB block. Their signature flavour is Smoked Hay, and other popular flavours include Vanilla Himalayan Salt and Roasted Cacao. An interesting feature of the gelato here is its “pressed-in” top and accompanying toppings nestled within.

Burnt Cones
Burnt Cones opened in December of 2020, and has been a popular outfit since. Despite the number of ice cream cafes in Sunset Way, Burnt Cones has stood tall, and has now become one of many’s favourites. They are famous for their Smoked Waffle, and Scamorza and Pistachio gelato. The name Burnt Cones was coined during their R&D process where they accidentally “cooked” the cones longer than expected, and realised that burnt cones don’t taste so bad!

Lickers
Popular heartland cafe Lickers is known for its cosy interior, artisanal ice creams, and delicious small bites. I liked how they churn out innovative flavours. I especially like their Mao Shan Wang, which is very rich and almost tasted like the fruit itself, except creamier. If you’re feeling peckish, their Truffle Fries and Mozzarella Sticks make for perfect supper snacks!

Tian Wang
Tian Wang is perfect if you’re looking to fix your Chinese Dessert Cravings in the wee hours of the morning. We loved their Yam Paste with Pumpkin and Gingko Nut ($4.80), a classic. Another one of their specialties is the Durian Mousse ($9), a creamy base topped with a Mao Shan Wang paste made from the fruit itself.

You cannot miss Smile Dessert’s iconic 3-story pink building in the heart of Bugis. The menu here is extensive — there’s Asian Desserts such as Sesame Paste ($5.90) and Korean Bingsu, and Western-style desserts like souffle pancakes, and lava cakes. Come for the dessert, but stay for its pretty-in-pink interior, with each level bringing its own flair. Think a gigantic ball pit, baby-pink Christmas trees and extravagant decor. Furthermore, Smile Dessert is open 24 hours every day; perfect for a sugar fix any time any day.
