Easy Chatuchak Beef Noodle – The Chilli will Knock Your Socks Off!

Just a 10 minutes’ walk from MacPherson MRT station lies a secluded coffeeshop, which is home to Easy Chatuchak Beef Noodle. The stall opened around September last year. Initially, we hesitated a little as the coffeeshop was packed, yet there wasn’t any queue at this stall. However, we are always up for trying new hawker stalls, so we went ahead and ordered.
The Beef Noodle ($6) consists of pieces of tender beef, a beef ball, a chunk of beef shank, radish and vegetables. You have a choice of Thai Glass Noodles, Full Egg Noodles or Thai Instant Noodles. For the most authentic Thai beef noodle experience, we picked the Thai Glass Noodles. They are soft but not mushy, and come with a nice bite. The best part about this bowl of beef noodle is the tasty broth. It isn’t too oily, but some might find this a tad salty. It’s good that the sweetness of the soft radish manages to balance out the flavours.
This stall started out serving only beef noodle, but there are a couple of new items such as Pad Mama with Egg ($5.50) now. Basically, this is the stall’s version of Pad Thai, using Thai Instant Noodle. They are very generous with the pork slices and chilli. Yes, the chilli from this dish is super power-packed, certainly not for the faint-hearted. It’s impossible not to break out in perspiration.
The Pasta with Basil Pork ($7) is a Thai-Western fusion dish. Fans of chilli will love this. If you think Pad Mama’s spicy, think again. You will soon have a steaming head and sexy sausage lips! The level of spiciness is too intense, and unfortunately, covered up the savouriness of the dish.
Our favourite is the beef noodle, and we recommend that you try this if you are craving some Thai noodles. It might be a little tough to locate the stall, as the coffeeshop is tucked in a corner, surrounded by blocks of flats, but your search will be worth it.
