Farasha by Intan has been on my makan list for ages, thanks to my friend Adam, better known as @Thehalalfoodblog, who’s raved about it countless times. His glowing reviews finally pushed me to make the trip, and I couldn’t have picked a better day. I was meeting a friend for tea at Vivocity, so stopping by Seah Im Food Centre for lunch felt like the perfect opportunity.

Spotting Farasha by Intan was easy—just follow the long queue. The stall’s popularity is unmistakable, and after my experience, I can confidently say it’s well-earned. As I approached, I was greeted with the aroma of fried chicken sizzling away. One of the friendly owners even let me snap some photos and proudly showed off a fresh batch of their signature “golden chicken.” The sight of that wok brimming with golden, crispy fried chicken had me drooling on the spot.

What I loved about their process is how they fry small batches to ensure each plate is served piping hot. The fried chicken is first marinated and cooked in a pot before it takes its final dip in the hot oil. The result? A drumstick with a perfectly crispy, crackling skin that shatters beautifully with every bite. They top it off with crispy crumbs, which are like the cherry on top. It’s truly a masterpiece.

If you’re craving a lighter option, their classic ayam penyet with rice is always a good choice. But what sets Farasha by Intan apart is their pairing of fried chicken with stir-fried carbs. Adam swears by their Nasi Goreng Ayam, but after seeing countless glowing reviews about their Tom Yam Maggi Goreng Ayam, I decided to go all out and try both.

The Nasi Goreng Ayam is solid comfort food. The rice is fried to order, which keeps it fragrant and flavourful. Each plate comes with a dollop of their fiery sambal that elevates the dish to another level. Spicy, savoury, and satisfying—this alone could make anyone a fan.

But the real star of my meal? The Tom Yam Maggi Goreng Ayam. Wow. It had all the punchy flavours you’d expect from tom yum—zesty yet savoury. Each bite of the perfectly stir-fried Maggi noodles paired harmoniously with the crispy fried chicken. The tanginess from the tom yum cuts through the richness of the chicken, making it dangerously easy to finish the entire plate.

As I sat there enjoying my meal, I couldn’t help but think, Why didn’t I visit sooner? Farasha by Intan is not just another fried chicken stall—it’s an experience. If you’re ever near Seah Im Food Centre, do yourself a favour and join the queue. Whether you go for their Nasi Goreng Ayam or the Tom Yam Maggi Goreng Ayam, one thing’s for sure—you’re in for a treat. Don’t forget to thank me (and Adam) later!
