Guang Dong Sha Bao Fan – Affordable Claypot Rice With Generous Portions at Beo Crescent
March 22, 2022
Unlike most traditional Claypot Rice which usually requires a long wait, Guang Dong Sha Bao Fan’s claypot rice is served piping hot, and quick. Previously a chef at Marriott Hotel, Chef Wu is really fast at churning out his popular claypot rice despite the long snaking queues.
You cannot go wrong with the Claypot Sausage Bacon Chicken Rice ($5.30). Each bowl is generously laden with chicken chunks, lup cheong, vegetables and most importantly, salted fish. The lup cheong was fragrant and not too tough; but I did feel the chicken was overly tenderised, resulting in a meat that was too soft. Despite being sent out much quicker than what I’m used to, the Claypot Rice still had the charred rice bits at the bottom, and a nice smoky crunch.
The Claypot Sausage Bacon Pork Rib Rice ($5.30) was a nice switch from the classic Chicken Claypot Rice. Again, there was a generous portion of all the liao, but the pork ribs were also overly tenderised. If I had to pick one, I would say to stick to the classic chicken rendition.
The stall also offers some tze-char style sides, and I had the Fried Eggs with Shrimp ($6). It was not too oily, but unlike the generous amount of ingredients in the Claypot Rice, the same could not be said for the shrimps in the fried egg.
For the heaping amounts of ingredients in their claypot rice, Guang Dong Sha Bao Fan’s offerings are very reasonably priced. They certainly make an affordable and quick lunch option, especially for the nearby office crowd.
