Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice – Tender, Moist, Tasty Chicken Rice In Golden Mile

If you are at Golden Mile Food Centre, you will surely see the queues in front of the Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice stall. These queues surely say something about the taste of the chicken rice served up by this stall, so make sure you come early to get a plate for yourself.

With over 40 years of experience in the chicken rice industry, Uncle Sunny Gan has been running this stall for over 20 years. As he ages, he is looking to pass down the business to his son who has already learnt the ropes and is ready to take over anytime. Spot him behind the stall cutting up the chicken!

Their chicken rice is priced at only $4.5. If you prefer chicken drumstick rice, that would be $5. Be sure to add a braised egg for $0.70 as it is loaded with flavour. You can also get more rice for $0.50.

They offer a choice of poached and roasted chicken, and we got to try both of them. I preferred the roasted chicken rice more as it is always my number 1 pick between the two. However, their poached chicken rice was equally good. The chicken was dressed in a mix of light soy sauce and sesame oil, which was just savoury enough without overshadowing the natural flavours of the chicken.

The chicken was tender and moist. And their chilli sauce, which is made in-house, was not too spicy and was just sour enough. Together, the rice, chicken, and chilli was an explosion of flavours in my mouth. The rice was also fragrant and fluffy and it did not leave my mouth feeling oily, like some chicken rice might. I liked it together with the black sauce which made the entire combination even tastier. However don’t add too much of it like I did, which caused the rice to be a little too salty.

Finally, at the end of your meal, cleanse your palate with the fresh and crunchy cucumber slices.

If you are craving for chicken rice, this is the place to go. All that the stall owners are looking forward to is the smiles on the faces of their customers. So be sure to lick your plate clean if you are satisfied with their chicken rice.
