The MeatHouse by 18 Chefs

Who can resist a succulent piece of steak with beautiful flavour, texture and great marbling? The MeatHouse by 18 Chefs serves good quality steak at affordable prices. Each piece of meat is first sous vide before being grilled in a Josper oven with natural hardwood lump charcoal. The steak served here is tender and juicy, and is accompanied with a hot bun and some greens. It is good enough on its own with just a dash or pepper and salt, but if you prefer to pair it with sauces, you can choose from mushroom, black pepper and garlic sauce. For $13, you get a decent-sized steak that comes with a side of mashed potatoes, corn, broccoli and carrot slices. The Mad Sailors

Do you have a voracious appetite and will kill for some British food? Well then, you got to check out The Mad Sailors! They are a Muslim-owned eatery that serves up British classics. What is a traditional British meal without some good old Fish & Chips? Here at The Mad Sailors, they have The Cod, which will satisfy your growling tummy with its huge portion. Our top pick from here would definitely be their classic Bangers & Mash. It comes with two garlic and herb beef sausages, mushy peas, fresh slaw, and housemade mash drenched with onion gravy. Located along Bali Lane, Sticky Rice specialises in authentic Thai Cuisine. While their menu offerings aren’t very extensive, they do serve up some interesting and delicious dishes. One such dish is the Cha Om Omelette. It tastes exceptionally good when paired with the Thai belacan dip that comes along with the dish. Sticky Rice also offers a variety of spicy soups including the classic Tom Yum Soup, Clear Tom Yum Soup and the Tom Kha Gai Soup. They also have the usual suspects like your Pad Thai and Green Curry Chicken. Sticky Rice has also curated some fuss-free bento rice box sets which are available for delivery during this period. Singfood Stall

Looking for a scrumptious feast for the family who loves Chinese Cuisine? SingFood Stall might be your best bet! They are a halal zi char stall located in Jurong West. They have the usual offerings such as hor fun, fried rice, steamed fish, and stir-fried dishes. Apart from these, they also have a selection of BBQ dishes such as the BBQ Seabass, BBQ Stingray and Sambal Sotong. One of their signature dishes is the Cheese Prawn Bee Hoon. The flavourful broth is creamy and has a good amount of wok hei. Another must-try is their Pumpkin Cream Sauce Prawn Roll.

Lawa Bintang

Allow me to entice you with this Halal Lobster Nasi Lemak! Doesn’t it call out to you already? Using a variety of herbs and spices, Lawa Bintang creates delicious and unique ingredients for their Nasi Lemak. These ingredients include the famous sotong grill, salmon, and even crayfish. Their signature Lobster Nasi Lemak features a whole lobster generously coated with ground herbs and cheese, a bed of basmati grains, a fried egg, sambal peanuts and anchovies, and some kickass sambal chili. They put a lot of effort into cooking their dishes too. Afterwit

Authentic Mexican food is hard to come by in Singapore. We were glad to have found Afterwit, which is located along North Bridge Road. We highly recommend the tacos here! The grilled flour tortillas are topped with freshly made pico de gallo (Mexican salsa), guacamole, purple cabbage slaw, and sour cream. Have you heard of a Balinese Donburi? If you’re intrigued by what this interesting Donburi is all about, you can get your hands on them at Amoy Street Food Centre! They have a plethora of options which will leave you spoilt for choices. Some of the dishes include Balinese Gyudon, Kuta Oyakodon, ¼ Cut Fried Chicken Penyet, and Honey Glazed Char Grilled Boneless Chicken Thigh Balinese Don! Yes! Nasi Kukus

We are all so familiar with our favourite Nasi Lemak, but have you heard of Nasi Kukus? This dish originated from Kelantan, Malaysia, and what differentiates it from the usual Nasi Lemal is the steamed rice that is prepared in individual aluminum bowls. This results in the grains having a really soft and fluffy texture. Health-conscious eaters might be pleased that Yes! Nasi Kukus also has nasi dagang, which is a mix of white and red rice. Yes! Nasi Kukus also dishes out flavourful curries and mouth-watering proteins. The fried chicken thigh was a stunner. They cook it in small batches to ensure that the skin stays extra crispy, and only use fresh chicken thighs which are tender and juicy. We really love the marinade which has a distinct taste of turmeric, lemongrass and ginger. They also offer other dishes such as Sambal Sotong and Curry Fish.

Chix Hot Chicken

We all crave golden crispy fried chicken once in a while don’t we? Chix Hot Chicken is probably the first fried chicken joint in Asia to serve authentic Nashville fried chicken. The best thing about it is that they are Halal so everyone can enjoy a taste of this goodness right here! Everything at Chix Hot Chicken is made from scratch, including their dry rub, slaw and chilli dip. Chix Hot Chicken offers 3 levels of spice for your chicken — mild, extra and insane. The chicken is fried to perfection, with crispy skin and tender juicy chicken flesh. Of course, they also offer the original buttermilk fried chicken for our friends who cannot take any spice at all. Nasi Ambeng might be a great choice to break your fast with. The soft and tender beef rendang here is noteworthy! The curry chicken is also very delicious. Pu3 Restaurant also serves some good Serunding (grated coconut flakes) which complement almost every other dish on the plate! They have quite a number of options available. Asam Pedas Claypot Super

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I feel that food served in a claypot always tends to be much better tasting and fragrant. I was pleased to find out that at Asam Pedas Claypot Super, the dish is cooked in the same claypot throughout instead of transferring cooked Asam Pedas into a claypot. That makes it sound even more delicious and aromatic! The fish here is fresh and well-cooked, and the dish comes with a generous portion of lady’s finger. Asam Pedas Claypot Super also sells other dishes. One of our top picks will have to be their Fried Chicken, which was extraordinarily addictive. Lina’s Cafe

I am always heartened to hear stories of the founding of food establishments, and Lina’s Cafe’s is definitely one of my favourites! Opened by the mummy of an autistic child, Lina’s Cafe aims to spread awareness about autism in Singapore and encourage inclusivity. Lina’s Cafe offers a variety of classic local dishes, Western dishes as well as a good selection of sweet treats. Some of their dishes include Home-styled Fried Kway Teow, Mee Rebus, Mee Siam, Creamy Chicken Pasta and more. During this Circuit Breaker period, Lina’s Cafe has curated a few family packages good for sharing. They are also selling some delicious Malay Kueh, cookies and tarts! Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut

We can probably find a good plate of Ayam Penyet easily in Singapore, but have you tried this dish with Halal Crispy Duck? If you absolutely love the flavours of Ayam Penyet and the texture of duck, you have to give Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut a go. Marinated for 24 hours with a blend of spices, the tender duck is deep fried till golden brown and is absolutely delicious. Each plate of meat comes with fragrant rice, kangkong, cucumber, tofu, tempeh and a dollop of fresh chilli which is pounded in-house. Tash Tish Tosh

Located along Kandahar Street, Tash Tish Tosh specializes in American food with a local twist. They have an extensive menu offering over 50 dishes such as the Bomb Baffalo Wing, their famous Pizzas, Cream Basil Seafood Pasta, Angus Ribeye Steak, Roast Beef Pepperoni Subwich, Mee Goreng Beef, Nasi Goreng Wagyu, Lamb Rack Chop and their signature Toolang! If you’re a fan of Toolang, you got to try the Battleship. This dish is a unique take — pizza dough base is topped with Tashookah and Tooling and drenched with a savoury red sauce. You might be pleased to know that during this period, they are open till late(last order at 2am just in time for Sahur).

The Dim Sum Place

With recipes created based on advice from celebrity chefs and chefs based overseas, The Dim Sum Place only serves good quality food! They have steamed, baked, and fried dishes such as Steamed Chicken Siew Mai, Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp, Molten Salted Egg Custard Bun, Deep Fried Carrot Cake, Egg Tarts, and Duck Char Siew Bun. You might want to stock up on some freshly baked pastries from Mother Dough for your post Iftar snacking. The owner, Naadhira, studied in the International Culinary Institute in New York before spending four years in the city working at different bakeries and restaurants. The bread and pastries are handcrafted with organic flour sourced from environmentally-conscious grain millers. If you are a croissant lover, you definitely need to try the Croissant Almond. Mother Dough also sells savoury croissants such as the Onion Mushroom Croissant, and cakes like the Chocolate Pound Slice.

Butter Studio

Butter Studio offers a good variety of bakes. The salted gula melaka cupcake is a must try here! Rumah Makan Minang

Back in the 1940s, there was a well-loved Malay restaurant known as Sabar Menanti which served authentic Nasi Padang dishes from the Sumatran Minangkabau people. The owner Haji Marlian came from Sumatra and set up a small food stall. Rumah Makan Minang was started by Haji Marlian’s youngest child, Zubaidah, in 1954. Hence, you can expect some delicious and authentic Nasi Padang dishes here! The star of Rumah Makan Minang has got to be their Beef Rendang. The intensely aromatic beef is cooked over a slow charcoal fire. We highly recommend the Ayam Belado Hijau, which features tender chicken in their signature green chilli marinade. Get your sumptuous Iftar feast from here, and I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Saap Saap Thai

Still looking for Thai food? Consider Saap Saap Thai which adds an interesting twist to classic dishes! Their signature Australian Beef Boat Noodle nicely captures the sweetness of the beef. If you have a big appetite, do give their succulent wings and drumettes a try! These wings are deep fried to a crisp and well coated with their tangy saap saap sauce. Some other dishes they offer include Kra Pao Basil Beef Slice Rice, Thai Crispy Chicken Tom Yam Soup and more.
