It’s almost impossible to have a meal in Teppei. You need to book at least 6 months in advance to get a seat. I don’t think I have the patience. However, the makan buddy has been visiting Hanare, sister restaurant of Teppei, for many times. So we decided to check it out too!

The first impression wasn’t great. I wasn’t sure if the restaurant needs to make reservation. I called for many hours the day before but the line is always engaged. Feeling so pek cek, we decided to drop by the restaurant the following day to check it out. First question I asked the waitress is, why is your phone engaged for the entire day? Very busy ah? It sounds like I am the angry boss trying to find fault with my staff. haha! So it turns out that the waitress plug the telephone line to the modem and forgot about it. ZZZ

The decor of Hanare is simple and it feels like I have stepped into a Japanese home. If you are a Chirashi fan, you should just go for their famous Bara Set ($17.60). which comes with Bara Chirashi, free flow miso soup and 4 side dishes. This bowl of rice is brimming with so many ingredients such as salmon, tuna, surf clam, roe etc that are seasoned lightly.

The side dishes to go with Chirashi is salad, sweet and sour fish, preserved vegetables and stewed daikon. Honestly, the sushi rice wasn’t fantastic but it was very value for money with so much sashimi. The boy loves it so much that he went back to Hanare for dinner with his friends the following week.

If you are hungry, go for their buffet ($19.90) with more than 20 kinds of side dishes like gyozas, tempuras, curry etc and a daily special. Honestly, just go for the chirashi set!
