Kosnica – New Ice Cream Palor Serving Premium Gelato and Waffles!
May 09, 2017
Kosnica serves up 10 premium gelato flavours. A scoop goes for $6.50, and a double-scoop goes for $9. Popular flavours include Earl Grey and Figs, Mocha with Biscotti Chips, Hazelnut Chocolate Rochor. Love durian? They also have Mao Shan Wang gelato that’s made from real durian pulp!
I love how the gelatos are all smooth and creamy, without being too sweet.
And what goes best with a scoop of ice cream? Not a cup, not a lonely waffle cone, but a huge belgian waffle!
They specialise in gelato, but their waffles are pretty good too. They are like a hybrid of a pancake and waffle – crisp on the outside, fluffy and immensely buttery on the inside. A bite into the buttermilk waffle unleashed the inner Agnes in me; it got me screaming “ITS SO FLUFFY I’M GOING TO DIEEE!!” Yes, this is definitely one waffle with character.
The red velvet waffles, on the other hand, are not as fluffy as the buttermilk waffles, but are more crisp and denser. Just mildly sweet with no overpowering chocolatey flavours, the red velvet waffle is a great option to go for too.
Upon special request, the friendly staff will do a mix two of flavours in one waffle for you, like how they graciously did for me that day. Do note that it’s subjected to availability (thank you!).
They do offer an impressive range of drinks too. From teas, to coffee to mocktail, their drinks menu comprises milkshakes ($6.70), root beer float ($7.60) and their signature honey coolers too.
The combination of ice cream and chamomile tea in the “Red Berries” flavoured Honey Cooler ($7.60) didn’t quite work for me though. Or maybe it’s because I prefer coffee to tea. It’s quite a value-for-money option, given the fact that a scoop of gelato already costs $6.20.
Their cakes and pies on display are not made in-house but are all sourced from Oishi. The Lemon Meringue Tart ($6.70) was pretty mediocre.
Will definitely be back for their gelato and buttermilk waffles.
Besides great gelatos and awesome waffles, it turns out that Kosnica also retails premium honey that is specially imported from the United States. This premium honey is also used for their mocktails, as a sweetener for their teas, and as a sweet topping for their waffles.
