Lobby Lounge at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel – Back and Bigger with a Tropical Summer Afternoon Tea for Just 2 Months!

Lobby Lounge at the iconic Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel which sits proud and tall in the heart of Orchard Road is finally back, much to the delight of loyal fans! Set amidst a 3-storey atrium, the popular lounge has been a regular haunt of many shoppers and afternoon tea enthusiasts for years before closing for sometime, and reopening in April 2023.

Now, Lobby Lounge will be serving a thematic afternoon tea every two months. Come tea time, guests can look forward to a leisurely afternoon filled with enthralling afternoon tea creations as they unwind at the charming sun-kissed Lobby Lounge. Doesn’t that just sound lovely?

From 1 June to 31 July 2023, a Tropical Summer Afternoon Tea will be taking centre stage and a Singapore Local Delights Afternoon Tea will take over from 1 Aug to 30 Sep 2023.

Promising tiny and dainty pastries that are almost too pretty to eat, scrumptious savoury bites, and unlimited servings of TWG teas and coffee, the Tropical Summer Afternoon Tea features sweet treats such as Passionfruit Éclair, Key Lime Meringue Tart, Walnut Coconut Tart, Soursop Mousse Charlotte, Palm Sugar Financier with Banana Chocolate Chantilly and Cempedak Crème Brulee.

We especially enjoyed the passionfruit eclair and key lime tart which were exceptionally well-executed! They carried just the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess, and as someone who always goes for these flavours, I was certainly impressed. I love that local influences have been incorporated into the afternoon tea experience, and I was particularly smitten with the fluffy palm sugar financier which was perfumed lightly with the distinct fragrance of brown sugar.

Savoury highlights include Lobster Croquette, Cod Brandade with Caviar Pani Puri, Black Pepper Chicken Puff, Maple Pecan Danish, and Quiche of the Day. The delicious lobster croquette was certainly a winner in my books. After just one bite, I was plotting to steal the other pieces from my dining companions! To my surprise, the cod brandade also stole the show, and really left me craving for more. The savoury creations were all outstanding in their own right and I’m very sure that you will relish them as much as we did.

If you’re popping by for an indulgent afternoon on the weekend (Friday – Sunday), you can expect to see Caviar and Blinis (a combination of Sour Cream, Egg Yolk and Egg Whites and Potato Salad – served per set of 2 pax) and a flute of champagne. Nothing screams a self-pampering session like caviar and champagne!

Their modern take on afternoon tea, with a refreshing fruity twist, is definitely different from the usual traditional English Afternoon Tea we are used to, but it’s a good kind of different.
