There are just some days when you want to spend a little and treat yourself, and Mia Restaurant is definitely a place to check out. Their tagline – Always Choose Handmade – speaks volumes of the dedication placed into their craft, as well as how just about everything on their menu is lovingly made from scratch. From seafood specials to pasta and tarte flambees, you’re in for a world of gastronomic excellence at Mia’s.

Located just a short walk away from King Albert Park MRT within Link@896, Mia Restaurant rocks an intimate and cosy ambience with its warm lighting, along with a touch of eclectic energy from a neon sign that’s tucked away deeper into the restaurant.

Seeing that their pasta alone number up to twelve options, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice when it comes to the main course! Go for classics such as Bolognese ($23), Aglio Olio ($18) and Bacon Cream Pasta ($23), or explore other options such as Crabmeat Pasta ($28), Frutti d Mare ($27) and Truffle Kombu Funghi Aglio Olio ($27). That’s not all; be sure to check out their other main courses as well as tarte flambees!

There’s even a specials menu that includes mouth-watering choices like Lobster Tail Pasta ($38), Sakura Ebi Pasta ($32) and Braised Angus Beef Cheeks ($33)!

Amongst the specials, I decided to go for the Spicy Garlic Vongole Pot ($18) that comes with a little plate of grilled country bread. The dozens of fresh white clams in the pot were bathed in a curated blend of tomato sauce, garlic, chilli and parsley. The little morsels of clam were blissfully chewy with a slight hint of brine.

The best part was bringing the whole dish together by dipping chunks of the crispy but still plenty doughy bread into the moreish sauce and topping it with the clams. I loved the tanginess of the tomato base that held hints of spice and slivers of garlic. You can never tire of this deliciously palatable dish and will find yourself mopping up every last drop.

I’ve never really had a tarte flambee before and the Burrata Tarte Flambe ($22) was an intriguing choice. It was definitely a gorgeous dish to behold, with cherry tomatoes, basil leaves and an impressive-looking burrata slathered with homemade pesto on a large, thin flatbread.

The creamy burrata was beyond sinful and the pesto all but further elevated it. To top it off, the flatbread (which was almost like a thin-crust pizza but better) lent a creaminess in between the crispy layers. 10/10 would order this again!

I also couldn’t resist adding the Truffle Kombu Fries ($15) to my order and I don’t regret it. The perfectly crisp, golden-brown fries were beautifully seasoned with truffle oil and topped with a heady amount of parmesan. The truffle mayo on the side made for a yummy match with the fries and this is a case where you can never have too much truffle. The only thing I wished for was that the kombu element was slightly stronger.

Mia Restaurant probably won’t be seeing me coming by everyday as the prices are on the higher side but should you be out looking for somewhere to dine at on a special occasion, be sure to head over!
