I first heard of Kefir sometime back, and have only tried it once. Kefir is a cultured dairy similar to yogurt, but the way it’s made is different. The “starter” used are kefir grains — a combination of yeasts, milk proteins and bacteria. What makes it special is the way it’s fermented, which results in a product that’s almost lactose-free! This means that most people who are lactose intolerant are able to have this too.

On top of Kefir drinks, Miss Kefir also offers fruit parfaits, Kefir bowls, soft serve and smoothies. I decided to give their Signature Parfait with honey, granola, and two fresh fruits ($5.20), Kefir Soft Serve with Two Toppings ($4.90), and Very Berry Smoothie ($5.20) a try. I went with fresh passionfruit and strawberry for my parfait.

The kefir was more sour than regular yogurt, so adding honey to it was a brilliant move. I enjoyed their homemade granola as it wasn’t as sweet as those sold commercially, and it also incorporated some texture into each mouthful. The smoothie was refreshing and light, with just the right amount of sweetness.

They infuse Butterfly Pea into the Soft Serve here to give it a beautiful baby blue hue. I paired my soft serve with some dragonfruit and blueberries. If you’re not into the tartness of Greek yogurt, this is a great choice. Still made with kefir, this makes for a delightful and light post-meal dessert.

Miss Kefir is pretty close to East Coast Park, so if you’re looking to cool yourself down after a day of fun there, this is perfect!
