This is a huge deal for those of us who have made the pilgrimage to Malaysia just for a taste of their signature offerings (guilty as charged). Now, we can savor their rich brews and irresistible bakes without leaving the island!

It wouldn’t be Oriental Kopi without their eponymous coffee. Made with a blend of Arabica, Robusta, and Liberica beans, this Nanyang-style brew is bold, aromatic, and perfect for coffee lovers who appreciate a strong, full-bodied cup. Coffee lovers will be happy to know they also offer other variants, such as butter coffee and white coffee, catering to different tastes. But for me, nothing beats a classic Nanyang brew – it’s comfort in a cup.

Let’s talk about those Signature Egg Tarts ($5.20 for 2pcs, $15.60 for 6 pcs), which have earned the title of “Thickest Egg Tart” in the Malaysia Book of Records. Each tart is made with premium French butter, resulting in a flaky, golden crust that’s delightfully crispy. The center is filled with smooth, luscious custard that practically melts in your mouth. It’s no wonder these egg tarts have a cult following. You can bet I’ll be grabbing a box (or two) on opening day!

Another highlight of the menu is their handmade Polo Bun ($4.60). These buns are baked fresh daily, achieving the perfect balance of a golden crispy crust and a soft, fragrant base. The real magic happens when you add a slab of icy fresh butter and drizzle on some condensed milk. It’s a simple combination, but trust me, the polo bun is next-level. This is comfort food at its finest, and I can already see myself sneaking a bun into my bag for a midday pick-me-up.

If you love a dish that packs a spicy punch, their Curry Double Lava Egg Toast ($4.60) is a must-try. Imagine thick slices of toast, drenched in their rich, aromatic curry sauce that’s full of kick and spice. The toast is then topped with two perfectly soft-boiled eggs, their golden yolks running into the curry to create a luscious, flavourful combination. It’s indulgent, messy, and absolutely worth every bite. I could honestly eat this for breakfast, lunch, or dinner – it’s that good! They also have Margarine Sugar Toast ($2.20) and Egg Mayo Toast ($3.60).

Oriental Kopi also brings a Singapore favourite to the table: Nasi Lemak, but with their own twist. Their Oriental Signature Nasi Lemak ($9.50) is served with a perfectly spiced deep-fried chicken thigh that’s crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The chicken packs a punch with its aromatic spices, and the soft-boiled egg on top? Just cut into it, and you’ll be treated to the indulgent flow of golden yolk. It’s the kind of meal that makes you pause and appreciate every bite. If chicken isn’t your thing, you can opt for beef rendang, which I’ve heard is equally fantastic.

I couldn’t resist trying their Rendang Chicken Nasi Briyani ($9.50), and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The rice was fluffy and fragrant, spiced just right with the warm flavours of briyani. The chicken was tender and coated in a rich, flavourful gravy that paired beautifully with the rice. If you’re a fan of hearty, comforting dishes, this is a good option.

With such an exciting menu, Oriental Kopi’s first Singapore outlet is set to make waves. Whether you’re here for the coffee, the award-winning egg tarts, or their satisfying hot meals, there’s something for everyone. Mark your calendars for 27th November and head to Bugis Junction to experience the buzz for yourself.

Let me know what you’ll be trying first – and if you spot me there with a coffee in one hand and an egg tart in the other, come say hi!
