Get started on the holiday feasting with the new Pajeon pancake with assorted toppings ($10.90++, only for Plaza Singapura, Northpoint City & Jurong Point). Instead of the usual scallions, this Korean savoury pancake is topped with kimchi, cheese and braised pork belly. The sticky-sweet caramelized pork belly is cooked until tender. It looks unimpressive but it was very addictive. Comes in a set, you even get a glass of soft drink! We finished it in a jiffy!

For the most affordable lunch option, you have got to try the Japchae ($8.90++, for Plaza Singapura, Northpoint City & Jurong Point). It’s bouncy, QQ and chewy! Those who love their noodles with a great texture will definitely enjoy this. Stir fried with pork, or beef, and vegetables, the japchae is a great accompaniment to any of Patbingsoo’s yummy piping hot stews. Other lunch options include Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice, Dub Bab and Bibimbab.

For me, the best way to eat ramyeon would have to be in the form of Budae Jjigae aka army stew. The individual portion goes for $12.90++, and diners can have their stew cooked with pork or beef. The army stew features all the usual suspects — sausages, spam, rice cake, tofu, kimchi, fresh vegetables, shiitake mushrooms and more. Are you drooling already?

If you’re worried about the stew being too spicy, fret not, as it looks spicier than it actually is! I loved that every mouthful of the savoury broth carries a subtle sweetness.

GREAT FOR SHARING

The Kimchi Mandu Jjigae ($39.90++) is great for sharing. This kimchi stew features handmade kimchi dumplings with kimchi, or pork, and vegetable dumplings that are deep-fried to crispy-brown perfection. The pot is also filled generously with a variety of fresh ingredients such as Korean rice cakes, mushrooms, spam, tofu, ramyeon and glass noodles. The heartwarming kimchi soup was just the way it should be – sweet with a subtle tang. The plump dumplings soaked up the flavours of the sweet broth, and every bite promised a juicy burst of flavours.

If you will like to have a taste of the Kimchi Mandu Jjigae on your own, you can get it as a lunch set for just $12.90++! Available from Monday to Friday (11:30 – 5pm), this version comes with your choice of a soft drink.

I highly recommend that you get the Chicken Skin as a top up at $4.90++ to your set lunch (U.P. $7.90++) to go along with your stew! Forget about diet as this bite-sized snack is drizzled with nacho cheese sauce. So sinful, but so so good!
