Located at Alexandra Retail Centre, ROOM is a destination where artisan coffee and no-nonsense nosh meet. It has a spacious layout with lot of natural light which makes you feel like you are in a comfy room, chilling out.

The cafe was previously located on the 5th floor of a quaint little location along Carpenter Street called ‘Room With A View’. But the owners wanted to look for a space where they could meet more of the baking demands, hence they needed more space for a larger oven.

Our quiet dinner started with a plate of Chicken Wings ($7.50) which we thought the batter was too salty.

However, we love the Prawn Laksa Pesto Spaghetti ($14). The laksa leaves give a strong Asian accent to the pesto and complement the fresh sauteed prawns atop the al dente pasta.

Another worth trying pasta dish is Basil Pesto Spaghetti ($14.50). The al dente pasta, paired with homemade basil pesto, and topped with right amount of pine nuts, has the potential to convert non-pesto lovers.

Carbonara ($12.50) is accompanied by a generous amount of chopped bacon. Creamy and ordinary.

All cakes here are done on site and they bake in small batches to maintain the freshness of all the products. We recommend the ROOM Carrot Cake ($6/slice, $60 whole) which is enjoyably spongy and soft; plus the cream cheese icing is light and not too rich, so it’s no chore to finish up this teatime treat. There is also red velvet cake ($6.50/slice, $65 whole) and citrusy lemon slice ($5/slice, $50 whole).

ROOM coffee . bar;s coffee is organic (USDA Certified) and has Rainforest Alliance certification. I ordered a cup of Caffe Latte ($5.50) which is a decent caffeine fix.
