Sin Ming Chicken Rice – Popular Chicken Rice Stall Moved to Bishan
December 27, 2022
Kelvin and his wife, Dynn, have been serving up chicken rice at Blk 24 Sin Ming Road since 2013. They have recently moved to an eatery in Bishan and rebranded as Sin Ming Road Chicken Rice.
At their old stall, the roasted chicken was the highlight but during our lunch at their new outlet, we actually loved the poached chicken more. The meat was moist and tender, and drizzled with a fragrant sauce made from chicken drippings and sesame oil. The roasted chicken was deep-fried and had a slightly crispy skin. It was indeed well marinated but just a tad dry.
Complete your meal with a serving of aromatic rice. This was the highlight for me as the perfectly cooked rice was fluffy and loose with a nice aroma and was not overly greasy. I liked that the grains were not lumpy and had a wonderfully firm mouthfeel.
The succulent meat paired exceptionally well with their chilli sauce. They actually add kaffir lime into the chilli sauce so it’s bright and tangy and holds a spicy kick!
Make a feast out of your visit by ordering other zi char dishes such as Fried Nam Yu Pork and Sambal French Beans.
I will definitely be back for their chicken rice! On weekends, the eatery also serves kampong chicken which is less fatty, but richer in flavour.
