Launched by Ah Girls Go Army actress Debra Loi, Singapore Crawfish Ramen in Shenton Food Hall claims to be the first crawfish ramen in Singapore.

The star of the show is the crawfish which is grown locally and sustainably by Singapore Crawfish. The ramen is made according to a 50-year-old authentic Japanese recipe, and the crawfish broth is slowly boiled for 16 hours. Only 168 bowls of ramen are available a day, so visit early!

The menu is simple — you start with either the original or spicy broth. Everything else is customisable; from the noodle texture, taste of the soup, down to the toppings. The regular ramen contains your usual suspects of naruto, bamboo shoots, spring onions, and of course, the crawfish.

To try the best of both worlds, I had both the Original Ramen ($12.90), with an added Onsen Egg ($1.50), and a Spicy Ramen ($12.90) with Clams ($3). Both bowls came with 2 halves of a crawfish, but the grey areas were a little off-putting. Despite supposedly being fresh, the crawfish was slightly grainy. There was also not much meat in the crawfish, which was unfortunate given the fact that it was their main selling point.

The rest of the ramen was well-executed. I liked how the noodles had a bite to them, and the soup did have a very strong seafood flavour to it. If I had to pick one, I would go for the Spicy Ramen. It has the same base as the Original Ramen, just with an added scoop of chilli oil, but the spice gave it a new dimension that was rather enjoyable.

Overall, while the prices are on the steeper side, it is understandable given the stall’s location. So, if you’re in the CBD area, you might want to head to Singapore Crawfish Ramen for a quick ramen fix!
