SuperCurry – Gao Gao Curry Rice by Chef Pang of Now Defunct Antoinette
November 30, 2022
SuperCurry, which sells Singapore-style curry rice, is the latest concept by Chef Pang. Located in the same coffeeshop as Uptown Nasi Lemak, the stall boasts five different sets to choose from: Curry Chicken ($7.80), Braised Chicken ($7.80), Fried Chicken ($7.80), Assam Fish ($8.80) and Crackling Beef ($8.80).
Their silky golden curry is the real deal. It is aromatic, smooth, spicy, and pairs well with just about everything. The moment we tucked into our dish, we were blown away by the intensity of it. The curry was perfectly seasoned, and was spicier than the curry of all the curry rice I’ve ever had. Drizzled with their braising gravy as well, each plate is a glorious mess.
Each plate of curry rice comes with omelette, braised vegetables, and fried tau kee. Portions are generous, but you can also add on other side dishes such as sambal sotong and fried chicken skin. The chicken skin is so crispy that it crackles with every bite. I’m absolutely addicted to the Assam fish which is doused in an addictively spicy and sour sauce.
If you are looking for saucy and delicious curry rice in the CBD, Supercurry is a good option. The incredibly aromatic curry, coupled with popular dishes such as the sambal squid and assam fish, are just some reasons why foodies come back time and again. Hearty lunch indeed!
