My last visit to Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant is a few years back before Carlton Hotel underwent renovations. Time flies! Just last week, I went back again for dim sum, as well as to try their roasted peking duck which is having promotion now. P/S the cascading chandelier is quite chio!

Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant Baked Barbecued Pork Bun

Wah Lok serves a great variety of dim sum, but their Baked Barbecued Pork Buns is soooo good that it is a must order in the list. The crust of the bun was baked till a crisp layer. When bite into it, you get the soft and fluffy texture with sweet and fragrant char siew. The roast pork was good as well with crispy crust and rather tender meat. It goes well with the mustard provided. The deep fried octopus tentacles is very addictive accentuated with the flavours from prawn paste.

Peking duck is a dish which emphasizes on the tenderness of the meat and crispiness of the skin. Wah Lok’s Roasted Peking Duck is among the most famous of Peking duck restaurants in Singapore. Chef has already sliced the skin before serving. Every piece is in a colour of jujube red with a crisp skin, served with keropok. Served with hoisin sauce, cucumber and scallion, we just can’t stop at one.

One recommended dessert is the really smooth avocado cream with ice cream.

It’s good to be back at Wah Lok after so long. The crowd is bustling even on a weekday lunch and dim sum is especially popular. We will also be back for their fish noodles!
