Yuè at Aloft Launches Singapore’s Most Value-for-Money Unlimited A La Carte Zi Char Buffet – From Just $29.90++ Per Person
April 11, 2025

If you’ve been craving a proper zi char feast that won’t break the bank, Yuè at Aloft might just become your new go-to. From 16 April 2025, this modern Chinese restaurant is launching what could very well be Singapore’s most value-for-money unlimited a la carte zi char buffet — and I’m honestly still thinking about that crab and ‘LIMPEH’ Bee Hoon.
And get this — it’s going at a 1-for-1 promo, from just $29.90++ per pax (U.P. $59.80++) for lunch and $35.90++ (U.P. $71.80++) for dinner. You’ll need at least two diners to enjoy the deal — but hey, zi char is meant to be shared anyway. And when you hear what’s included, you’re going to want to jio the whole family.
Now, here’s the kicker — every table gets a FREE serving of Crab with Creamy Milk and Salted Egg Lime Sauce and Kung Pao Duck Confit. The crab is laced with a tangy richness that makes you want to lick the plate clean. Yes, crab — at under 30 bucks per person. That alone is worth the reservation. And the duck? Sous-vide for 10 hours and then finished in a fiery kung pao sauce. So tender, it falls apart with a nudge of your fork.
But let’s talk about the rest of the buffet.
There are over 20 dishes on the a la carte buffet menu, and they’re not filler items. These are bold, wok-fried zi char staples reimagined with Yuè’s creative flair. We started with their Crispy Baby Squid in Sweet Shrimp Paste, which reminded me of a refined version of rojak — crispy, crunchy, with a gentle funk from the shrimp paste and a nice nutty crunch from crushed peanuts. Sweet, savoury, and totally addictive.
Next came the Prawn Paste Chicken, a staple that never disappoints. The wings were golden and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and thoroughly marinated with that glorious umami punch from fermented shrimp paste. Kids will love this — and let’s be honest, so will the adults.
Then came a playful twist on a classic: Sweet & Sour Pork with Popping Candy. I was skeptical at first — popping candy with pork? But it actually works. The pork cubes are crispy and coated in a sticky, tangy glaze, and the popping candy gives each bite a cheeky, crackling surprise. It’s fun and tasty, and makes you feel like a kid again.
For something theatrical, the San Bei Chicken is a must-order. It arrives bubbling in a claypot, the aroma Thai basil, and Chinese Baijiu wafting through the air. It’s rich, aromatic, and so dramatic when placed on the table – perfect for the ‘gram and your belly.
I wasn’t expecting much from their La Zi Ji, but one bite in and I was hooked. The chicken is chopped into small, crispy golden cubes, deep-fried till crunchy, then tossed in a mountain of dried chillies, Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, and scallions. There’s heat, sure, but it’s a delicious kind of heat — the numbing tingle from the peppercorns lingers just enough to make you crave the next bite. It’s bold and addictive, don’t miss it.
But my personal favourite of the day? The Signature ‘LIMPEH’ Bee Hoon. This dish is named with a wink — “limpeh” is a Hokkien colloquialism meaning “your father” — and it’s apparently the GM’s top pick. I can see why. The bee hoon is wok-fried to smoky perfection, full of that elusive wok hei, and loaded with lap cheong (Chinese sausage), adding little bursts of sweet and savoury umami. It’s one of those dishes that’s so simple yet so satisfying, and I would 100% go back just for this.
To end the meal, don’t skip the DIY Homemade Beancurd Station. It’s a lovely touch — the beancurd is soft and silky, gently sweet, and comes with 15 different toppings to rotate through. From red bean to taro balls to fruits and syrups, you can mix and match your own creation. It’s light, refreshing, and the perfect way to round off a hearty meal.
I left stuffed and impressed. With the 1-for-1 deal, it works out to just under $30 per person for this zi char extravaganza — crab included. If that’s not shiok, I don’t know what is.
So if you’re looking for a place to bring your family, impress a date (on a budget!), or simply eat till your pants feel tight, Yuè at Aloft has your name on it. But hurry — this 1-for-1 promotion is only for a limited time, and once word gets out, you’ll want to lock in your reservation before it’s fully booked.
